30 Day Photography Challenge, Day 7: Family

Today's challenge is a bit more personal and is dedicated to my late paternal grandparents, Evelyn and Richard Banman. When thinking of family I thought a family recipe would be perfect, and one staple in Grandma's German Mennonite farmhouse was zwieback. But I couldn't just leave it at those cute little stacked rolls, in addition to that, I remember the slices of cheddar cheese that were left out on the table all day until they got hard, the smell of bacon every morning, the cookies that were on the table in the mudroom, and drinking sweet tea out of jelly jars. I also made sure to include a toothpick holder that my grandpa made and a table runner embroidered by my grandma.

I think grandma would be pretty proud of my first ever batch of zwieback, but she would probably fuss about the wrinkles in the tablecloth.

The picture style is based on Dutch Old Master still life oil paintings which I have always admired.
